The 32nd World Science Fiction Convention, also known as Discon II, was held August 29–September 2, 1974, at the Sheraton Park Hotel in Washington, D.C., USA. The official co-chairmen were Jay and Alice Haldeman; Ron Bounds was the vice-chairman. The guests of honor were Roger Zelazny (pro) and Jay Kay Klein (fan). The toastmaster was Andrew J. Offutt. Total attendance was 3,587. == Awards == The Hugo Awards, named after Hugo Gernsback, are presented every year for the best science fiction or fantasy works and achievements of the previous year. Results are based on the ballots submitted by members of the World Science Fiction Society. Other awards, including the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer, are also presented each year at Worldcon.〔
